Social Event

We changed our plans as a unique opportunity opened up to see the internationally acclaimed exhibition Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity at The Art Institute of Chicago. The exhibition will be accessible from 5:45 – 9:00 p.m. An outdoors reception with hors d’oeuvres, drinks and live jazz at the Art Institute will be in McKinlock Court from 7 – 9 p.m.

Saturday, August 17th

5:45 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tour of special exhibition Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Reception in McKinlock Court (Stock Exchange Room if bad weather)
230 South Columbus Drive

The AMCIS 2013 Social Event at the Art Institute of Chicago, at one million square feet the second largest art museum in the United States, will include the reception at the McKinlock Court Garden and Garden Café preceded by a tour of the special exhibition Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity. The Art Institute is the last stop on exhibition’s world tour. The other 2 places it has been on display were the Louvre in Paris and the Metropolitan in New York. In case of foul weather, the reception will be in the old Chicago Stock Exchange Room, which was brought to the Art Institute and reconstructed in 1972.

Walking: From the front of the Hilton (point A on the map below), turn left (north) on South Michigan Avenue and navigate to the 230 South Columbus Drive Group Entrance of the Art Institute (point B below). Towards the end of the event, you may walk just one block further north to the Millennium Park (point C below) and catch at least a part of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring in Jay Pritzker Pavilion, a free concert by the Grant Park Orchestra.
